After a lifetime of fascination, I still cannot get enough of the beautiful American kestrel. I could spend the rest of my days watching and photographing them and be very happy. Whether working in the field or out with the family hearing, the shrill, unmistakeable killy-killy-killy always captures my attention and sends me in the direction of our smallest falcon. Despite my many attempts to get a great shot (Kestrels being notoriously difficult subjects as they are small, fast, and spook easily), my photos normally do not do them justice. So when I approached this gorgeous female and she sat still for a few moments on a cold morning I was very thankful. Very thankful indeed.
Beautiful!
Thank you, Michael!
