The Hooded Pitcher Plant

Sarracenia minor

I’ve been working in Florida’s wild lands for two decades and still get surprised by some of the wonders our state has to offer. Today, I was gifted a sighting of the beautiful and rare hooded pitcher plant (Sarracenia minor) in the most unsuspected place; an open lot in an undeveloped property! There was only one very small area where these were growing and I have the fortune to catch them flowering. Hope this is not the last time I see this carnivorous plant….
