Cooper’s Hawk, en garde

My Gila monster project has been occupying my free-time lately, so my photography and by extension this blog has been pretty quiet. In scavenging through my hard drive for old Gila photos I have come up with a few oldies, including this one of my Cooper’s hawk after a nice flight. I loved flying an accipiter, but it was an intense experience. But, to say these raptors are fast and agile is an understatement. They are truly incredible to watch fly, like speeder bikes that can come to a complete stop at full speed only to turn around 180° and continue at the same speed in the opposite direction. Wow!!
